Alhumdulillah (All thanks to Allah) I've had the opportunity to team up with
Sunnah Style to present and review some niqabs for you. Alhumdulillah, I'm seeing a huge increase in the interest of niqab with many sisters around the world. Like myself, niqab can seem very confusing. I remember after my research I started looking on websites to see what my options were. To my surprise their were so many different styles. Niqabs come in half, one layer, two layer, three layer, short, long, diamond, satin trimmed, nose string etc. What does all of this mean?! I decided that even though I wasn't wearing niqab, I wanted to start buying some. After chatting with a few girlfriends who wear niqab, I felt I had a small understanding of what I wanted to try first. I looked high and low and finally ended up running into
Sunnah Style.
My first purchase to
Sunnah Style was a Burgundy Two Layer (two piece) and a Blue One Layer, No Pinch Niqab. (Don't worry I will show photos and explain all the terms in sha Allah) I also have a story on my
Instagram under the title "Niqab", so go check it out.
The one layer is as you see, it has one layer that veils the face, and the forehead band ties behind the head (as do all niqabs regardless of layers or length). The "no pinch" means it has an extra wide eye opening so that it does not pinch the eyes as some sisters feel they constantly need to pull their face veil down slightly to avoid a feeling of "pinching". A two layer niqab is simply that, it has two layers. One is a face veil and the second can be used to lay behind your head as you see in my photo, or can be brought over the face to veil the eyes. I loved this niqab, and the color was beautiful. I regretfully sold it after going through a "half niqab only" phase haha. Now I may have to buy it again in sha Allah (God willing).
My third purchase to
Sunnah Style was a Black Three layer. I had seen some three layers and they looked really elegant. I still wasn't sure many of the differences with shape and length so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't end up liking this one much, but thats my own problem. I wasn't used to the black, the forehead band, and I thought the back layers were going to be longer and different lengths. I hadn't even started wearing niqab yet so my taste was different and I still felt concerned with looking too "stereotypical". I no longer feel this way alhumdulillah and pray others can change their mentality on this as well. May Allah grant softness in the hearts of the ignorant to be at least tolerant of our religious choices, Ameen.
A Three Layer as you can imagine has three layers. One veils the face and two layers can lay behind the head. One layer can be brought forward like the two layer to veil the eyes, while still having one layer behind your head. Sisters who also veil their eyes may love the three layer, but I find three layers unnecessary for myself.
My third purchase to
Sunnah Style was for a couple Half Niqabs. I couldn't quite get the taste for the forehead bands just yet and had seen some sisters wearing half niqabs under their scarves and felt they looked a lot more "welcoming" for a western society. Again, I wanted to try the different styles so I purchased one tie back, which is a face veil with side strings that you tie behind your head. The second was an elastic half niqab. The elastic has an elastic band connecting both sides of the face veil behind your head. Many sisters like the ties because it gives them the comfort of being able to control how tight or loose it is. The ties also make it easier to use with jilbabs or khimars that may have tiebacks.
Sunnah Style makes their tie backs slightly different than some other companies I have purchased from. They've used a thicker hem along the bridge of the nose which extends to the ties. This is used for the integrity of the product as over time the ties on the sides of the face veil may rip out after extended use. The thicker band does create a dent on the bridge of my nose so for that I may prefer the elastic half niqabs better from
Sunnah Style. The downside to the elsitic is that you cannot adjust it. If its too tight your forced to find a way to wear it that is comfortable. If its too loose you are again forced to find a way to make it tighter. I have found the elastic fits perfectly on myself, but I have had to find a comfortable way to wear it because I can get headaches easily. Extended wear of the elastic with a tight fit across the nose may cause a headache if you are sensitive to that. I find wearing my hair in a low bun and pulling down the side a bit helps. If its too tight you can also try wearing it under your bun inside or outside your scarf. The elastic also has a thinner and more comfortable hem that lays on the face. I do prefer the look of them much better.
My fourth purchase was two more elastic half niqabs in Creamy Peach and Sahara. These are much lighter colors like the White. I have had many questions concerning the transparency of these lighter colors. They personally work for me, but I am light skinned. Some sisters of color fear their skin may create a shadow or pattern inside, but I cannot speak to this. Best to contact the brand.
After trying a few other niqab brands I could see the high quality of
Sunnah Style Niqabs. The fabric is the softest and some of the easiest to breath through. They are manufactured in Jordan which I love because that's where my husbands family is from. They sell out of Canada which makes it one of the best options for US buyers. Their shipping is $5.00 Flat Rate for US which is amazing! You receive your package in a normal and convenient time. After realizing they were one of the best, I reached out to them about reviewing their niqabs. Keep in mind they sell anything from abayas to jillbabs, khimars and more. As I don't have any of these my review as you can see has been focused around their niqabs alone. Alhumdulliah,
Sunnah Style was happy about my potential review and graciously sent me a package of niqabs to add to my review. Here is their amazing gift:
- Tie Back Half Niqab in Smoke
- Elastic Half Niqab in Black
- Elastic Half Niqab in Ice Blue (a new color they just added! Its so beautiful)
-One Layer Niqab in Creamy Peach
-One Layer Niqab in Desert Rose

I wanted to try the one layers again, and this time I got the normal one layer and not the "no pinch". I do wish I would have gotten more of a variety, and niqabs that I didn't already have, like a two layer to try again as well as a long styled niqab, a narrow no pinch and a pull down, but I wanted to get things I 100% knew I'd wear and wasn't thinking of the opportunity for a diverse review (shame on me haha). Im also eyeing that long diamond niqab LOL. This will definitely be a part of my next purchase in sha Allah.
Alhumdulillah, I have a girlfriend who had purchased a One Layer in Black with the Nose String. She knew I was eyeing them and contacted me to inform me of her thoughts. She did not feel it fit right on her face and sent it to me as a gift, Alhumdulillah. So I can also add this niqab to my collection to review. This color is in Teal (mashAllah loving it!) but I have the Black. I'm still getting used to the One Layer and Black haha, but it fits my face perfectly. I have big round eyes and have been told I wear my niqabs slightly wider on the eyes. If you prefer the "pinch" of the normal style than the nose string may be a touch too long for you, but still worth trying as everyone's different.
Something to note to all my newer niqabis is that I personally think the one, two etc. layers are more comfortable and easier to breath in, so Im finding that I am gravitating towards them more although I still prefer the look of the half niqabs better. I feel the half niqabs hug the face more which could restrict airflow slightly. Also with the layered ones, they may be more kid friendly since they would be harder to pull down as my 2 year old likes to do. Most women I've asked also agree about the one, two layers being their most prefered niqab. Now Id love to see
Sunnah Style come out with a Long Back Two Layer Lace trimmed niqab for occasions. That would be amazing!
All in all I think
Sunnah Style is by far the niqab company to beat! Their selection is vast, their fabric is the softest and most breathable, their color selection is the largest I've seen and their prices are fair and match the quality. I do have another niqab brand that I love from Malaysia, but I am finding myself looking on
Sunnah Style almost everyday anticipating my next purchase. I just don't want to get too ahead of myself as my niqab journey has only just begun. It would be easy for a sister to spend $100+ on niqabs and other goodies like their cool gloves, matching shaylas and childrens hijabs. Hey, at least she'd get Free Shipping! Yes if you spend over $99 you recieve Free Shipping in Canada, UK and USA. Alhumdulillah.
I want to thank the ladies at
Sunnah Style for being so awesome to give me this opportunity to review their amazing niqabs. JazakAllah kier and Alhumdulillah.
ReplyDeletePart 1
Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. I've been a Sunnah Style customer since early 2016. To date I have spent $600+ with the company. I am writing this comment as a response to the above reviews and I will try to remain as objective as possible and just state the facts.
My first order with them was for $168. I was disappointed to learn that the essential full zip abayas I ordered were made of a heavy and unbreathable polyester. This was not stated online nor was it that their niqabs were made of polyester. I only discovered this when I received the items and the tags stated that. I advised them that they need to update their website to correctly state what materials are used as I wouldn't have purchased these and that if we as people conceal what the actual material is (and it's that of inferior quality or the name is deceiving, than we are not better than the kufar). None the less, I ended up keeping the niqabs and sending back one of the abayas because the color was much darker than shown online. I believe they did pay for the return shipping due to the inconvenience/misleading info. To this day, I have three of their essentials full zip abayas and I do really like them. They are convenient in that they are full zip with zippered pockets. HOWEVER, they do not breathe AT ALL and I can only wear them in a cool fall and winter. I have mistakenly worn them in the late spring when it was warm and it was a nightmare. That being said, $59.99 + shipping is too much for an abaya that you are only able to wear 1-2 seasons.
Since then I have ordered numerous niqabs from them and I have to agree with the above reviews- they pill and snag instantaneously. In fact, many of the niqabs I have my husband says I look like Scar Face because they usually snag right in the front, deeming them unwearable. They really do have a beautiful array of colors which is usually why I continued to just keep ordering.
However, I came to realize Sunnah Style provides good customer service as long as you love their products and never speak up about any issues. For my wedding two years ago, I ordered three white niqabs in differing styles, a white underscarf, and a matching size large white shayla. I let them know beforehand that I would be only keeping one of the niqabs and returning the other two but I just needed to try it on with my jilbab. I chose the one I wanted and noticed one of the niqabs they sent me had no tag on it. Now I got married alhamdulillah, moved out of state, and being that my husband placed the order in a new account he didnt remember the password and by the time I recovered the password and account info about 2 months had passed. I contacted them and they showed no remorse or leniency with my situation or the fact that they sent me a niqab without tags so I was just stuck with that one. Keep in mind, I have already spent lots of money with them.
Part 2
ReplyDeleteSince then I purchased more niqabs and gloves and when one didnt work out as intended I shipped it back instead of just keeping it like I had been and just tossing it in a drawer or giving it to friends. Shipping cost me $15 to send it to them and I am only in Chicago. The next order I placed a few months later, I thought that they had sent me the wrong color because it looked much darker in the package yet I didn't want to open it because I didn't know if this wasn't going to have a tag on it and then they were going to say I had to keep it as I experienced before. So I contacted Sunnah Style and asked for a prepaid shipping label to send it back as I could not keep affording to pay $15 to ship one niqab. The email I received back was one where I was spoken to condescendingly and almost berated for asking for a prepaid label and why don't I just open the package and I will see it is the color I ordered. I was surprised, especially since I had spent $600 with this company so far and I felt if they really valued my business and appreciated me as a loyal customer they would not have treated me this way. I emailed them saying I would take my business elsewhere and I would not be purchasing from them anymore.
Fast forward to last night: after many "bickerings" between my husband and I over the past 6 months about me wearing lighter colored niqabs when we go to certain gentrified areas of town. I have no problem wearing lighter colors but the only company I know that has decent light colored niqabs is Sunnah Style that is relatively close and I didn't want to spend our hard earned money on people who expect you to just take what they give you and be happy no matter what the quality or customer service is. Anyway, I bit the bullet and got a $40 order together despite my personal feelings and when I went to pay and have it shipped, I received a message saying there were no carriers to go to that address. I tried another address, same notice. So i logged out of my account, feeling that there was something fishy going on, as I live in Chicago and they have delivered to me many times. I created a new account to place the order and when it came to the order screen and where to ship- there was no issue with the exact same two addresses I entered to ship it to. So- I believe I was blocked from ordering from them under my account that is associated with my email. I emailed them in regards to it and as of yet am still awaiting a response and to see what they will say.
All in all, I have come to the conclusion that there is something not right with this company. Yes they have beautiful niqabs in great colors, (albeit they are expensive to not be long lasting) but I would rather stick with the same old trusty niqabs I have and wear them until they're hanging by threads than deal with such a petty company that just wants your money and will only offer you good customer service as long as you agree with everything they say and give you. I spent too much money with them to receive snarky responses on more than one occasion dealing with them. Don't be fooled by the constant giveaways and the word "Sunnah" in the name.
Unfortunately this is my honest review. Anything good I've said is from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'aala and anything bad or incorrect I've said is from myself and Shaytaun. Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Lol was that supposed to be offensive? Is that all you got buddy? Go cry in your moms basement some more lool
ReplyDeletePlease do not say things like this. You are saying all Muslim countries are the same. They are not, Morocco for example, they are Muslim, they do not cut off hands of others and stone people to death for adultery, the Moroccan people are actually very nice. And saying she looks ridiculous is wrong, I respect that she wears the niqab. I think you are being kinda rude. If you don't like something you maybe could of been politer about it.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this person took the time to write that post; unbelievable. Ignorant people have no shame and too much time. He/She should go read a book and learn something so they can stop embarrassing themselves.
